The below Toor Dal/Moon dal recipe will be able to give you one more option for the lunch menu. It is very good for babies/kids to give rice with toor dal/moong dal and ghee. It is such a healthy combination. Since we are adding tomato and jaggery powder, the taste will be too good. Even I like it very much. Sometimes, I pack this for lunch for my hubby too. 1. Pressure cook Toor Dal, tomato, Green Chilli together with turmeric powder and sufficient water for 3 whistles in high flame and 10 minutes in simmer. You can cook this along with the rice in a separate container.
2. Heat oil in a pan and add the 'To Temper' items one by one. Take care of mustard oil spluttering first.
3. Add the cooked toor dal mixture, jeea/jeera powder, jagger powder, Salt and Kasthuri Methi if required. Add required amount of water and allow it for single boil.

- Toor Dal/Moong Dal(Thuvaramparuppu/Siruparuppu in Tamil) - 50g
- Tomato - 1 small size
- Green Chilli - 1 for babies/2 for kids split into 2 pieces each
- Jeera powder/Jeera - 1 tsp
- Jaggery Powder - 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric Powder - A pinch
- Salt - As required
- Kasthuri Methi(optional) - 1 tbsp, not for babies
- Oil - 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
- Hing - A pinch
- Curry Leaves - Few
